Aleatoric Composition
Fascinated by the great artists of the early 20th century- especially those who used chance in the commission of their works, fine art photographer J. Coleman Miller has created a new twist on aleatoric composition. When Miller photographs the swirling colors of Koi and the reflections that dance on the rippling surface of a clear pond, slow moving wafts of smoke, intricate rock formations and crumpled metal- magical images come to life in a new form of surrealist expressionism. The works convey a deep sense of emotional connection, touching viewers with engaging, dreamlike images and unearthing darker, ghostly scenes as though from a childhood dream.
The limited edition photographs are digitally printed and beautifully presented on a variety of modern substrates. All works are signed and numbered by the artist in limited editions of 20. Prints look best in larger sizes, bringing out the intricate details, but any size can be ordered as long as the proportions of the image are kept the same.
